Prayer For Marriage

BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD ~ Joshua 24:15

Father, In the Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ we surrender ourselves, our spouses, our marriages, our children, our finances, our possessions, careers, ministries, gifts, talents and most importantly our will.  We invite Holy Spirit into our homes and in our relationships with one another.  May love, peace, joy, patience, kindness, faithfulness, goodness, gentleness and self control be present and abound.

Father strengthen and encourage the husbands to be the priest of their home and the spiritual covering of their household. Bless their hands in all they so they and their family may prosper.  Order their steps according to Your precepts.  Draw them closer to You in a deeper and intimate relationship so they may effectively serve You and lead well.  May they always put You first, the wives second, then their children.  Pour Your love in them that they may love their wives as You loved the church. May they be the fathers their children need offering love, affection, guidance and most importantly "time".

Father strengthen and encourage the wives to be the help-meet to their husbands.  May they become the Proverbs 31 women - tending, nurturing and wise.  Give them wisdom to manage their homes and be good stewards.  Order their steps according to Your precepts.  Draw them closer to You in a deeper and intimate relationships so they may effectively serve You and their family.  May they put You first, their husbands second, then their children.  Pour Your love in them that they may respect their spouse and submit one to another.  May they be the mothers their children need offering love, affection, guidance and most importantly "time" especially if they work outside the home.

Protect their eye gate that nothing unholy tempt and seduce them into lust or commit adultery by looking at another woman/man with lust.  Cover their ear gate from outside influences and voices aside from Yours. Strengthen them so they may not grow weary of well-doing towards one another.  May the airways of communication always be open between them.  That they allow room for one another faults, forgiving when forgiveness needs to be extended and the humility to accept it.  May passion be present in their intimacy with one another.  May they build each other up and never tearing them down by speaking against them to others.  May they seek you together in prayer and devotions.  Bind them together in Your Love, committing themselves to remain "Married For Life".  Amen.

So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."~ Matthew 19:6
